Description
This bird harness protects the delicate keel-shaped sternum (chest bone) and distributes any force evenly over the harness vest. The vest is lined with a soft cotton layer. The outer layer is strong and chew-resistant. There are several different options for attaching the leash to the harness (described in the instructions that come with the harness & leash) - including one without the use of hardware, which reduces the weight for smaller birds. Parts can be bought separately at a later stage. Bird owners don't have to buy an entire set if only part of the set needs to be replaced. For the safety of our pet birds, we recommend thorough testing of the harness and constant supervision of their outdoors. Cockatiels range in size; therefore, we include 3 sizes of harness - size "4" for small cockatiels; size "4a" (vest only - reuse belts of other harnesses) for intermediate cockatiels and size "5" for large cockatiels (this size also fits SMALL conures). It is easier to train birds on larger harnesses - so having a larger harness will facilitate training. The additional harnesses can be used for other pets. However, only ONE leash is included.
Our newly developed Avianweb harness solved challenges of other harnesses: no more pulling wings through loops, the belt slides easily through loops on the back and is closed with a sliding buckle.
The heavy-duty faux leather vest is made out of PVC-free Polyurethane and a comfortable Cotton Fleece backing. Unlike nearly all faux leathers, this material breathes just like genuine leather; it feels like leather, and is easy to maintain (simply wipe to clean).
Holes in the belt are NOT needed for the buckle, but are meant to give users the option to attach a leash to it. However, we also do include a D-ring for those that prefer to attach leashes to those
