I have about fifty recordings of Charles Parker’s work. Bird at St. Nick’s is undoubtedly one of my favorite recordings of his work. My only regret is that the original recording edited out the work of the other musicians he is working with. Charles Parker is one of my favorite composers, musicians and conceptualist, however, he sounds best when he is collaborating with artists of high caliber and we cannot take that aspect for granted. After all, he is not playing by himself and they are exchanging ideas, inspiring and supporting each other. In spite of the unfortunate aspect of the other artists work being cut and uneven recording fidelity, this is a must have recording for anyone who relishes great art and the work of Charles Parker, alto saxophone; Roy Haynes, drums; Red Rodney, trumpet; Al Haig, piano and Tommy Potter, bass. You will not regret acquiring this document!!!Sincerely,Douglas R. Ewart
